About The Challenge

Movember, the month formerly known as November, is almost upon us. Hundreds of thousands of men and women across the world will soon be up to their moustaches in raising awareness and funds for men’s health and cancer affecting men. Men start Movember 1st clean-shaven, then grow and flow their moustaches for 30 days while getting friends and family to sponsor their efforts. You can support the Mo, whether you can grow one or not!

Your challenge is to create a t-shirt design for Movember around the theme of Moustaches in the Wild. Think chopping wood, wrestling bears, building log cabins with your bare hands, and the like. Also, think moustaches. The more designs that are submitted, the more awareness you’ll raise to help Movember change the face of men’s health. The chosen tee will be sold on Threadless, and 25% of the sale of each tee will benefit Movember.

In the US, Movember’s men’s health partners are Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG, the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Society of Illustrators

So as a huge surprise to me I was selected as one of the winners for the Society of Illustrators Student Scholarship Competition.
At the very least my work will be shown in the exhibition in New York, but I think I am still eligible to receive a scholarship that could range from $5,000 to $500. Also the wonderful people in the College of Arts VISCOM program at the University of Arizona will most likely be flying me out to New York for the reception in May. Posner's Art Store generously donated the framing of my work and I just heard that I am inline for a art supply scholarship from them also, the amount remains to be determined. I really can't say how much all of this means to me and I thank all my friends, family and co-workers for their continuous support and encouragement of my work.

So it has been a pretty crazy month so far. I can't wait to be moving on to Tuscon with Heather and I's new life. School will be an incredible thing and give me the room I need to grow as an designer/artist. I can't wait for the future, upward and onward!

Well today started off with a bang. I was heading to Fry's while on my way to work to pick up something for lunch. While trying to take a high speed right into the parking lot, realized the I was heading straight for a curb, I tried to avoid the curb, clipped it and lost control I tried to jump ship into some grass, as you can see I fell short. I slide across the roughest assault in the world and hit my head and my ear on the curb (with an earbud in my left ear). When I came too, I hear a lady (who had witnessed the whole thing) yell are you ok? I'm calling 911. I replied in a daze, no I'm fine thanks for your concern. Fun. To make a long story short, I am actually fine. My head is much better after a few hours of dizziness, but my hand is far worse. Looks like someone took a cheese grater to my hand. Hooray for Friday.

P.S. The wounds look much worse in real life.

Last night we (my partner in crime and I) were requested by a friend to add some art to his new music venue here in town. I worked on the large character while my partner in crime created the wonderful bubble and eye piece. Hopefully this won't be the last of our artistic contributions to this wonderful venue. Enjoi!

So, I pulled over yesterday afternoon, while Heather and I were on our way to Thai House for dinner. I have been dreading getting pulled over for a while now, not just because cops in general freak me out but because both my front windows don't roll down and I can not open my door from the inside. So that means when the cop walks up to my window, I have to politely ask him through the passenger window behind my seat, if he could open the door for me. Awesome. So it happened just like that except for the fact that he made me show him my hands before he opened the door for me, then proceeds to joke saying "just like a chauffeur!" great. He explains he pulled me over for the crack in my window, which was a chip and has now is trying to take over my window. Then asks for license, registration, and proof of insurance which I had, but I quick came to find out that my insurance card expired. HAHAHAHAHA! I explained that I do have insurance but had forgotten to put the new insurance card in my card (which is true). So he said he wasn't going to write me up for the window, (great)...... but he was going to give me a citation for not having current insurance. SO now I have a date at 9:00 am on the 23rd to go prove to a judge that I did indeed have insurance prior to getting pulled over, and hopefully he won't give any fines. So that was totally rad, now heather and I are going to try and make our way out to Prescott valley to see The Hangover. I hope it is as good as Matt has made it sound. Wish me luck.

We ventured to Yeshuah's last night, to enjoy some beer, pizza and wii. As a result of the pizza and beer some drawing went down. Of all that was done this was the only one to make it out with a chance at seeing the daylight. Enjoy. More to come.......maybe.
